First prize in the competition for the Maison des entreprises and its surroundings in Onex

Developed in collaboration with the Italian firm Demogo, which is responsible for the architectural design, the landscaping for the future Maison des entreprises will be designed by CCHE. The project illustrates a coordinated approach in which landscape and architecture work together to create a unifying space for Onex.

Conceived as a meeting place at the heart of the neighbourhood, the Maison des entreprises project proposes a shared, vibrant central space that connects the existing buildings and creates an intimate, welcoming atmosphere, enhanced by the modest height of the structures and the proximity between entrances and pathways; on the other hand, facing outwards, it reinforces the structure of the garden street, engaging with the broader, expansive scale of the modernist neighbourhood.

The landscaping project unfolds like a play, where each space plays a specific role, with the new building at its centre, like the beating heart of the stage. Organised around a dual reading of “côté jardin, côté cour”, the developments are structured into two distinct acts: an opening onto the city, extended by a tree-lined promenade punctuated by new plantings, and a more intimate interior space, freed from hard surfaces and redeveloped with a permeable surface that promotes water infiltration and biodiversity.

The central courtyard thus becomes a flexible and evolving space, conceived as a shaded framework suitable for both everyday use and hosting events, such as the Onex festival. This approach addresses the site’s challenges through integration into a tree-lined setting, the management of pedestrian flows, and adaptation to local uses, whilst creating a calm, green retreat at the heart of the urban fabric.

The primary strength of the Côté cour Côté jardin project is that it has recognised the need to create a complex with a strong public identity. By inserting a new L-shaped building that defines a semi-open courtyard in relation to the existing building, the project clearly defines two complementary outdoor spaces linked by a generous portico that acts as an active threshold.

Garden Side: The continuation of the Rue Jardin promenade and the "Dieu d’eau" fountain at the heart of the public space integrate this complex as a stage opening onto the city.

Courtyard Side: A more sheltered, functional and flexible space, where the layout is generously shaded, with an area capable of hosting events and neighbourhood celebrations.
