Eco District Record

Echallens

An attractive and lively eco-district

The future eco-district "Record - En Crépon Est" will welcome more than 1,000 inhabitants. In order to meet this major challenge for the municipality, the strength of our proposal lies in two aspects:

- to be inspired by the strong identity of Echallens; its countryside, its town, its village life, its associative village life, to build a living eco-district, as an extension of the town.

- to develop a qualitative proposal for the whole of the lots, to guarantee the coherence, the strong identity of the eco-neighbourhood and its global management.

A Connected Eco-neighborhood

Our vision of the Record-En Crépon eco-neighborhood enables us to forge links with the town to make it attractive to its future residents as well as those of Echallens. The 5 following principles of action make possible exchanges between the inhabitants and interactions between the districts of yesterday and tomorrow:

Social integration
The welcome square, in the extension of the neighbouring communal plot, a new intergenerational meeting place south of Echallens. Services, in complementarity with the Bourg, animate the ground floor. Thanks to a partnership with local actors, annexes to the school and the CMS are made available nearby. A neighboring farm ensures the maintenance of the natural and ecological outdoor spaces of the district and offers animations and activities complementary to the farm.

Soft mobility network
To compensate for the relative distance between the eco-neighborhood and the Bourg, an autonomous shuttle bus provides the connection as well as with the LEB station. The network of cycle and pedestrian promenades serves the eco-neighborhood from the main alleyway and crossroads, all of which connect to the municipal soft routes.

Landscape attraction
A "maze of cereals" at the top of the hill invites the inhabitants of all Echallens to come and get lost in a flax field and to discover the surrounding countryside from play and observation arches.

Green energy
The innovative and 100% renewable energy system allows the entire municipality of Echallens to be supplied with energy.

Virtual link
A virtual concierge application is offered for the goods and services of the future residents and merchants of the Bourg.

Principles of facade composition

Eave line
Mark the cornice on all the buildings in reference to the vernacular architecture of Echallens.

The line of the base
Emphasize the first floors by a materiality common to the whole eco-neighborhood and by marking a cornice.

The materials
Define a common palette of materials: grey-brown stained concrete for the base and cornices, light wood to bring warmth; ivory white roughcast on the floors.

Architectural diversity
Create architectural diversity through the projection or retraction of the balcony, the dimensioning of openings, the play of materials according to the orientation of the building and its relationship to the surrounding context.
