Vallée de Joux Sports Centre: use plan comes into force

10.06.2024 · News

In order to meet the growing and changing needs of sports facilities, the Vallée de Joux Sports Centre has undergone a review of its current planning. The new use plan will allow for the construction of new facilities (football pitch, skate park, pump track, etc.), as well as accommodation for use during training camps.

Synergies have been found between the various activities in order to optimise the infrastructure while simultaneously meeting current and future needs. Particular attention has also been paid to the external landscaping and, in coordination with the Canton, measures have been identified to protect biodiversity and the landscape. In particular, the banks of the River Orbe will be subject to a renaturation project. Lastly, the development plan places particular emphasis on mobility by avoiding vehicle transit through the site and providing landscaped, safe links for pedestrians and cyclists, particularly alongside the river.

Following the public enquiry in December 2022 and the lifting of objections, no appeals have been lodged against the land use plan, which has now come into force.

To the north, the use plan ensures that the existing infrastructure is maintained and that new sports facilities are developed and grouped together. To the south, it allows for the creation of new sports pitches, in particular a football pitch. The central part is dedicated to enhancing the banks of the river Orbe through the renaturation of the watercourse.
