Ground-breaking ceremony for the new secondary school in the Vuette district

19.02.2026 · News

The ground-breaking ceremony marks the start of construction on the Bussigny Vuette school complex. The ceremony was attended by representatives from the municipality of Bussigny, the main contractor Eiffage Construction, and our CCHE team. This rapidly developing new neighbourhood meets the growing need for school facilities to accommodate new pupils.

The project comprises a secondary school, a triple-purpose sports hall and an after-school care building (UAPE/PPLS), the construction of which is planned for a later phase. Completion is scheduled for the start of the school year in August 2027.

The layout of the buildings creates a landscaped block, a true green oasis set apart from the industrial and urban surroundings. The outdoor facilities include active-mobility paths, sports fields and play areas, whilst promoting native vegetation and the reuse of materials from the existing site for the creation of street furniture.

Architecture designed for community life

The school adopts a mixed timber-concrete structure, evident on the façade through a stone plinth topped by timber-clad storeys punctuated by large windows. The classrooms are organised around a central space designed as the educational heart of the project. This spacious volume, bathed in natural light thanks to skylights, encourages interaction, learning and community life within the school.

In contrast, the gymnasium, constructed in exposed concrete, asserts a mineral character that meets the requirements of OPAM regulations. The textured concrete lends relief and dynamism to the façade.

Inside, the hall is clad in wood, offering a warm atmosphere in contrast to the exterior, and benefits from an abundance of natural light thanks to sawtooth rooflights.

The laying of the foundation stone is scheduled for June 2026, in the presence of our entire team.
