The Quartier de l'Etang celebrated its official inauguration this weekend, bringing together the political and economic leaders in the greater Geneva area, as well as all the stakeholders involved in this adventure.
The event, which included a wide range of activities, was the celebration of five years of work. The Quartier was also awarded Switzerland's very first SBNS Sustainable Neighbourhood label, with an exceptional score of 5.4 out of 6! This certification is based on the evaluation of 30 criteria aimed at the sustainability of a district and rewards the architectural and urban planning qualities of the project, as well as its contribution to the regional economy and the measures implemented to preserve flora and fauna.
The acoustics of the Atrium des Atmosphères, a shopping and leisure centre designed by CCHE, were showcased by a magnificent alphorn performance which was truly the icing on the cake.
The award of Switzerland's first SNBS-Quartier label recognises the sustainable approach, in the broadest sense, applied to the entire district’s development.
