Quartier Gare-Nord Schenk

Rolle

Les Strates

The objective of the client Schenk is to regroup its activities on the northern part of the site and to develop a mixed-use district, shopping areas and a station square for Rolle.

The "Strates" project is inspired by a fine study of the great landscape. Rolle, a town between lake and vineyards, is characterized by linear plateaus. By proposing a district structured in 3 strata, the project fits subtly into its context, offering a station square, a residential street and a natural park.

Urbanisme de CCHE pour le Plan de quartier Gare-Nord Schenk Suisse

The shape of the district highlights the large landscape, the outdoor spaces and the quality of the housing. Reduced land use guarantees quality outdoor spaces. The profile of the district is thus to guarantee a lot of sun and a clear view of the large landscape. The staggered layout allows the creation of diverse perspectives from the dwellings.

The first stratum, the station square, creates a urban interface that reflects the image of the city and offers a new face to Rolle. The second stratum, the internal street, is a bond in the district where one finds the accesses to the dwellings as well as small workshops. The third stratum, the park, is the reference green space. On the ground floor, major trees form a pleasant setting. The construction by strata allows the progressive and natural development of the district, in parallel with the construction of the new Schenk factory.

Sustainable development

The reconversion of this industrial site into a mixed neighborhood (activities, housing and leisure activities) aims to achieve the objectives of a 2000 Watt neighborhood. This mixed district provides in particular for cooling thanks to the water from Lake Geneva, as well as soil permeability with an open-air park and water recovery. This strategic site next to the SBB railway station and bus lines obviously integrates a reflection on soft mobility with shared parking (P+R).
