In partnership with the Magizan office, we have been unanimously selected by the jury as the winner for this major project. Resulting from a mandate of parallel study (MEP) procedure.
A new destination
The current site occupied by Avry Centre aims to become a new destination, a place of exchange, culture, leisure and meeting. But it is also the project of a new animated and connected public square in Avry, in Matran, its region and its landscape composed of agricultural fields of the Sarine in the foreground and the Fribourg Pre-Alps in the background.
Territorial footprint
Concerned about the existing natural setting, the project encourages the creation of new green spaces and reorients the built elements of the site to give it a new identity and guarantee a wide opening onto the wider landscape.
This new public square will have three main features: a new shopping centre integrating various public programmes and services (including a large catering service, a medical centre, a club migros-school and a fitness centre), an aquatic centre open to the public and schools, and a cinema offering a varied programme.
A multimodal hub
The project is at the heart of a new multimodal hub, integrating soft mobility (Trans Agglo), public transport (creation of a new SBB Avry-Matran stop, as well as a TPF bus station) and cars (creation of a P+R car park). It is therefore efficiently connected to the public and private transport network of the Fribourg conurbation.
A new district of attractive and innovative housing will also be created in the space freed up by the former shopping centre. This mixed neighbourhood will ensure a high quality of life through their openness to the wider landscape and their connection to the surrounding nature.
