The elected members of Sierre's General Council voted 49 to 7 in favor of the Valais Arena project, which includes the construction of a 6,500-seat ice rink and a 600-home eco-neighborhood.
Coming together in a special session on December 11, 2024, more than 85% of the elected representatives approved the city's investment in the project. This historic plebiscite is a strong signal for the continuation of this ambitious, high-quality project, which is rooted in Sierro tradition.
In addition to a diversified range of sports, leisure, commercial and activity facilities, the overall project will offer energy-efficient intergenerational housing. This will fall in line with current concerns and challenges in terms of social quality of life and sustainability.
