A breath of fresh air for Prilly town center

On Thursday, June 12, 2025, a symbolic ceremony was held to lay the foundation stone, marking the official start of work on the Prilly Centenaire project, commissioned by the Vaud State Pension Fund (CPEV) in collaboration with Retraites Populaires. This ambitious project aims to revitalise the heart of Prilly by combining renovation work and new construction.

Forty-nine existing homes will be renovated and 40 new homes will be built, doubling the total number of homes. The project places particular emphasis on sustainability and improving residents' quality of life. The new section will be Minergie-certified, and all existing buildings will undergo extensive energy-efficient renovation.

This will include renovating the facades, adding balconies to each apartment, refurbishing the common areas, switching to district heating, and renovating the facades of the ground-floor shops. Particular attention will be paid to water management, with the switch to a separate system (rainwater drained separately from wastewater).

Urban integration is at the heart of the design. The Prilly Centenaire project plans to integrate outdoor facilities with the future Pré-Bournoud market square, ensuring the flow continues through a more intimate garden for residents. The backyard will be upgraded with less asphalt and more vegetation, promoting the separation of soft mobility and car traffic flows.

An architectural identity that respects the local character

The project’s architecture has been designed to preserve the urban character of the area. The two parts of the building will assert their individuality through the juxtaposition of different facades. The imposing volume has been designed around subtle geometric features, masking the overall perception of the complex and respecting the city centre’s scale.

Green outdoor spaces

The project is also committed to promoting local biodiversity. Around 30 trees will be replanted, including three large trees, around 20 medium-sized trees, and around ten small trees and bushes. This ambitious tree planting initiative aims to create a lively, dynamic, and green mini-neighbourhood.

Existing building renovations will begin in August, marking a new stage in this large-scale project that promises to transform the centre of Prilly in a sustainable way.
