The Suettaz neighbourhood plan in Nyon, developed by CCHE on behalf of LSR (Logement Social Romand) and SI Les Lupins, was the subject of a popular referendum initiated by a group of opponents to the project. Following the ballot of February 9, 2020 and after an intense, high-profile media campaign, the inhabitants of Nyon voted overwhelmingly in favour of the project, accepting it by almost 69%.
This incredible score rewards the fruit of a long multidisciplinary work that began more than 10 years ago.

Creative workshop
This neighbourhood, with over 580 inhabitants living in dilapidated buildings from the 1960s, required a major redevelopment. In 2016, different layout variants were tested by a pool of experts in a creative workshop with twelve professionals from fields as varied as architecture and sociology, as well as representatives of the municipality and the owners. These reflections, centred around major themes such as landscape, environment, mobility or socio-economic issues, had led to the selection of a small island layout, giving way to large tree-lined inner courtyards of 700m2 and green spaces.

Architectural concept "Quartet" and reappropriation of space
Thought out for its inhabitants, the new La Suettaz district favours pedestrian areas and avoids motor vehicle traffic, restricted to emergency and service transport. Play, meeting, leisure and walking areas are distributed around the buildings and inside the courtyards. The central square will be the preferred place for exchanges between the district, the surroundings and the city of Nyon.
Efficient and modern apartments
The new apartments will allow the tenants to enjoy all the modern and up-to-date comforts. The finishes will be of excellent quality thanks to the use of latest generation materials. The surfaces will be much more generous than at present.
The energy efficiency and acoustic performance of the four buildings will perfectly match current standards.
An effective re-housing strategy
Beyond the architectural project as such, the question of re-housing the tenants was of paramount importance in the decision making process: the arrangement in 4 blocks allows to ensure and offer a re-housing answer on site for all the tenants.
CCHE accompanied the project owner during all these stages and in particular for the presentation sessions to tenants, authorities and associations as well as a presence on public stands.
