One of the main works of Charles and Frédéric Brugger, founders of our office. This school is a flagship monument in the Lausanne region.
The Collège de l'Elysée was built from 1961 to 1964 in the vast and magnificent park of the same name. The various buildings, forming courtyards, are terraced and slope gently down towards the lake. They are clearly defined rectangular volumes, open to the outside and with a concrete framework, and follow the main principles of modern architecture of the inter-war period. The remarkable work on the volumetric composition and cladding, which benefits from the contribution of the sculptor Hansjörg Gisiger, however, clearly places the complex within the questioning of the architecture-sculpture link specific to the post-war period.
