In the heart of Geneva, the renovation of Cité Carl-Vogt aims to revitalize an iconic 1960s social housing complex. Designed by the Honegger brothers, the five buildings, which house 445 apartments, are distinguished by their modular architecture, mashrabiya-style balconies, and finely detailed facades.
The renovation is part of an ambitious project led by CCHE Genève SA and MSV architectes, heading the Norme Maroc consortium. The project combines heritage preservation with energy efficiency, featuring differentiated insulation for roofs, facades, and basements; window renovations; the installation of photovoltaic panels; and a connection to the district heating network.
With the site remaining occupied, the work also extends to the HVAC systems, outdoor spaces (squares, landscaping, eco-points), common areas, and circulation routes. The renovation is guided by continuous dialogue with residents and authorities.
This project reflects CCHE’s multidisciplinary expertise, from complex site management to the seamless integration of heritage, social, and ecological considerations. It embodies the vision of sustainable and respectful architecture capable of evolving a living heritage without compromising its integrity.
